Who Would Buy This: Those on a budget shopping for a lightweight, well featured rotary shaver for dry shaving only.

Pros:

Ergonomically, the Philips Norelco PT730 Powertouch is well designed. It’s lightweight build and nicely contoured rubber-grip handle makes it easy to hold so you enjoy a comfortable shaving experience.

Several patented shaving technologies are integrated as part of the shaving system to provide high performance and comfort. The Dual Precision shaving system has the role of cutting long whiskers and short stubble so you can get a close shave even with several days beard growth. The Super Lift and Cut dual-blade action system uses a smart technique to lift hair using two blades to ensure you get the smoothest shave.

Smart flexing heads adjust to the contours of your face to maximize user comfort and ensure minimal skin irritation. Philips recommends replacing the HQ8 heads annually for optimum performance.

Quiet - As the PT730 uses a slightly slower motor than earlier Norelco shavers, so it benefits from being quieter and easier on the ears.

This shaver can be used either corded or cordless so you have the flexibility of being able to plug it in anytime when you’re at home or take it with you on your travels. The Li-Ion battery gives you 40 minutes shaving time from an 8 hour charge, which will last most people at least 1 week. A battery low LED indicator on the shaver gives you notification when you need to recharge the battery.

The Quick Charge feature can charge the shaver is just 3 minutes to provide enough juice for one shave. If you’re in a rush, the battery is flat and you have no power outlet where you shave, this is a very handy feature.

A handy pop-up trimmer is integrated to allow you to maintain your sideburns or mustache. Most users are very pleased with the quality of the trimmer.

Fully washable – For easy cleaning you can rinse the head under running water. Additionally, a small brush is included to brush away any hairs or gunk under the shaving head assembly.

Cons:

No travel pouch is included nor is there a switch lock to prevent the shaver being turned on accidently in luggage. So from a travel-friendly perspective, there are better rotary shavers out there.

The motor isn’t as powerful as earlier models in the Norelco shaver line-up. However, it still packs enough power to handle most people’s facial hair.

Isn’t suitable for wet shaving. If you need wet shaving capability, we recommend you checkout the AT810 Powertouch.

Guarantee: 2-year limited warranty.

Summary

For a low-to-mid end rotary shaver, the Philips Norelco PT730 Powertouch Electric Razor is an admired choice. It’s quiet, lightweight, ergonomic and easy to maintain, but most importantly delivers a close shave comfortably.

Its best suited to those with light or medium hair thickness for shaving daily. If you have thick, coarse hair or want a shaver which will comfortably handle several days worth of growth then we recommend you look elsewhere.
